EXFO Adds Packet Capture Capabilities To Ethernet Test Equipment

August 19, 2010 – EXFO Inc. has announced that it has implemented packet-capture capabilities across its entire Ethernet test portfolio. The new feature is designed to enable field technicians to easily capture and decode 10-Mbps to 10-Gbps Ethernet traffic at full line rate to isolate and analyze application-layer configuration problems.

By adding packet-capture and decode capabilities to its test modules, EXFO asserts it now offers a comprehensive, simplified, and fully integrated test portfolio for end-to-end carrier Ethernet network assessment. This enables field technicians to quickly pinpoint, analyze, and report quality of service issues using a single test unit, the company says. The new capabilities also complement EXFO’s recently released EtherSAM methodology (ITU-T Y-156sam), in the company’s view.
