Frontier Communications Selects ADTRAN For FTTN

June 14, 2010 – ADTRAN Inc. (NASDAQ:ADTN) has announced that Frontier Communications Corp. (NYSE: FTR) has selected the systems house to provide “fast track” fiber to the node (FTTN) broadband access gear and turnkey services to many of the new markets Frontier will acquire upon completion of its transaction with Verizon Communications, which is expected to occur July 1, 2010.

Frontier will use ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP) and Total Access 1100 and 1200 Series FTTN products to deliver universal broadband, new bundled services, and enhanced technologies to customers across its expanded geographic footprint, ADTRAN says.

Michael Golob, vice president, engineering and technology for Frontier, stated, “ADTRAN’s breadth of applications, including fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), FTTN, and IP DSLAM along with its turnkey services, will help us meet our ‘first 180 days’ targets. Our longstanding relationship with ADTRAN gives us confidence that it will help us get off to a fast start.”

Frontier plans to enable subscribers in the new properties to enjoy advanced broadband services and to helping advance the goals of the National Broadband Plan, ADTRAN says. Broadband services such as high-speed Internet, business Ethernet, and network upgrades will be of economic, health and cultural benefit to millions of new Frontier consumers, small businesses, universities and other institutions in 14 states across the West, Midwest and South, the company adds.
