Fujikura Introduces New Fusion Splicer Models

Fujikura recently introduced two new splicer models to their family of full-featured fusion splicers, the 12S and the 70S.

Fujikura 12S fusion splicer

Fujikura 12S fusion splicer

The Fujikura 12S fusion splicer is the smallest, lightest, and most portable splicer in the world. The ruggedized chassis features shock, dust and moisture protection while the two camera observation system provides for accurate fiber alignment and loss estimation calculations.

Weighing less than two pounds and having a footprint of approximately 6″ x 5″, the 12S provides users with an unprecedented level of flexibility for the most challenging splicing applications.

The functional transit case also serves as a workstation when needed. The large 4.5″ scratch resistant monitor is viewable in direct sunlight. Software updates are accomplished via the internet, allowing users to quickly and conveniently update their software as new splice programs become available. The Fujikura 12S is also fully compatible with the FuseConnect line of fusion installable connectors. To cap off all these great features, a long life battery and extended life electrodes keep you up and running when you need it most.

The Fujikura 70S fusion splicer  is the fastest fusion splicer in the world. The automated wind protector and tube heater have reduced total cycle to an amazing 21 seconds.

The 70S is a fully ruggedized, core alignment fusion splicer, providing consistent, low loss, splice performance and featuring a new design that effectively streamlines the steps required to complete splices, resulting in greater productivity. Configurable automation features allow you to fully customize the operation of the machine to best suit your particular splicing technique and process. A new programmable automatic wind protector closes and begins the splicing process after clamping the fibers in position or pressing the “set” button. Once the splice is completed, not only is the wind protector opened, but one of the user-selectable sheath clamps is automatically raised making removal of the fibers fast and easy. Similarly, the clamshell design of the tube heater clamps the splice splice protection sleeve and applies heat from both sides which results in a reduced shrink time of just 14 seconds.

Both of these splicer models are full-featured additions to the Fujikura splicer line that will greatly enhance your splicing productivity on the bench or in the field.
